SPGL RULES
Seasonal Fees
Seasonal fees are 250.00. $152.00 prize fund and a $98 contingency fee. Returning members MUST pay their dues by 4/1 of the current year or they will be dropped from the league. Only the secretary is exempt from the dues. SPGL dues are NOT refundable. Any golfer choosing to quit before the season ends will forfeit all dues paid. However, unforeseen circumstances will be considered by the officers. Each golfer is responsible for their green fees.
The Secretary
The secretary will keep the roster, count points, calculate handicaps, and provide members with these statistics. Copies of the member's standings will be available before each outing. Information on the next outing, time, money, ect. will be provided and will be posted on our website:
New Members
All new golfers MUST post 3 scores to establish their handicap. After their handicap is established, the secretary will then calculate all points and matches won or lost.
Outings
We must give a head count to the course the Sunday before our outing. If you are unable to make an outing, you MUST get a substitute to fill in your spot. If you do not find a replacement, the green fees will be charged to you, and MUST be paid before the NEXT round of golf. You MUST pay for your green fees, NO EXCEPTIONS. If you need to change your tee-off position, please contact the secretary no later than the SUNDAY before the outing.
Memberships
Memberships are NOT transferable unless approved by the league officers. Previous members, in good standing of the SPGL, will have preference in rejoining over new prospects. If you should miss THREE outings during the season, you will be dropped from the league. If there are family or work conflicts; a final decision will be made by the officers.
Sportsmanship
Good sportsmanship should be the number one objective of all SPGL members. NO grudges or pouting is allowed and if necessary, disciplinary action will be taken against any offending member. Any conflicts over the rules of play, cheating (pencil pushing) or belligerency MUST be brought to the attention of the officers.

Attire
Proper attire is required: Collard shirts, golf slacks, or dress shorts. NO tank tops, cut-off shorts, or blue jeans. NO METAL SPIKES!!!
Green Fees
Bring CASH, to pay our treasurer for your green fees. NO CHECKS! You will forfeit your match if you show up after your tee time. You may elect to prepay for the entire season or the next outing, in which checks will be accepted. If there is a rain out and you pre-paid, that money is for that course only. It will be applied when we play that course at a later date. All money pots will be paid the same way.
Scorecards
You MUST complete all 18 holes and submit a final score or it will be considered a forfeit. All score cards MUST be filled out properly with totals. You must circle holes won. Put a "T" for ties. then show how many holes won, lost and tied for each golfer. It is the responsibility of BOTH golfers to submit a completely finished scorecard.
Make ups
Make ups will be permitted under these STRICT regulations:
It is your responsibility to call your opponent. Your opponent does NOT have to accept your make up request. Your request to your opponent must be made at least ONE outing in advance. Ex, if you re going to miss the 4th outing, then you MUST make your request BEFORE the 3rd outing. All make ups must be done within 2 outings of the one you are going to miss, ex. If you are going to miss the 3rd outing, then your make up MUST be done BEFORE the 5th outing. All make ups MUST be completed before the 7th outing.

Golf Rules
P. G. A. winter rules will govern play.
Ball may be moved in the fairway within 6 inches, "NOT" in the rough or in any type of hazard!
In inclement weather, the ball may be moved anywhere on the course within 2 club lengths, NO closer to the hole.
Finish all putts; only YOUR opponent showing "GOOD" sportsmanship may conceed your putt.
Ball out of bounds is LOSS of stroke NOT distance.
Water Hazard; YELLOW staked, you may play a ball from where your last shot was played or drop a ball any distance behind the water hazard keeping a straight line between the hole and the point where the ball is dropped.
RED staked.,you may drop a ball within two club-lengths from the spot where it entered the water, BUT not nearer to the hole.
Lost ball: ONE stroke penalty from where the ball was lost. NO penalty if the ball is lost in the fairway.
Ball against a fense: FREE drop within 2 club-lengths. NO penaty.
Unplayable lie: ONE srtroke penalty. Relief is two club lengths.
Sand trap: You may NOT ground the club. If it lies in a footprint, with your opponents consent, you may rake the trap, drop, and play from the trap.
Ball is in play on any part of the golf course.
NO fivesomes.
If you do not tee-off with your partner on the first hole, you FORFEIT your match.
League Play
Weekly Matches
1. Eight matches will be scheduled.
2. A combination of match and stroke play will be used.
3. All members will show up for each match, regardless of weather conditions. Unanimous decision by the officers will determine if the matches will be considered a washout..
4. All holes that are won MUST be clearly circled. It is the responsibility of the two golfers to keep proper scores to insure accuracy for handicapping!
NEW Scoring Starting in 2021 - 100 Points per Match Plus Net Score Points
1. 28 points will be awarded to the winner of each match, 14 for ties.
4 points will be awarded for each hole won.
2 points will be awarded for each hole tied.
2. Stroke play points: Gross score minus Handicap equals Net score.
